I had fun, I mean really had fun, this weekend working on this third try at the "gods and monsters" theme for display this Friday. A lot of the time when I'm painting, I feel like I'm fighting with the paint, which isn't necessarily a bad thing results-wise, but it can be frustrating, and hence, not a lot of fun.
Because this collaborative display is less than a week away, I decided to work out this third painting of the same scene in acrylic, so it would be dry in time. And since my supply of Liquitex is really, really low, I went back to my Golden Open Acrylics. I had tried these a while ago and really had trouble with them. But this time, something clicked. I think it may be the fact that I've been working with oils and getting more comfortable with them, and that carried over to being able to handle the slower drying time of these acrylics.
I love, love, love the bold brightness of these paints too. I'm going to have to experiment some more with these...
