Miriam and Gracie

I have to say, this painting was "a wee bit" of a new challenge for me. I've painted faces before from live models, but I've never painted a child. I did enjoy it though, and now that it's finished, I'd like to paint it again, but a little differently. We'll see if I manage to find the time one of these days.
The dog, Gracie, is an English Black Lab who belongs to family friends of the little girl, whose name is Miriam. Gracie and Miriam became fast friends when their parents shared a garden plot this summer at the community gardens. Miriam's father said that Miriam loved giving Gracie walks and throwing a tennis ball to
her. Gracie loves to fetch.
