Pastel Pears and the Empty Nest

Making Some Progress... and Having Fun Doing It
I'm easing back into painting with a fun pastel project. It will be a triptych of pears for my sister's home office. I find pastels to be very satisfying and rewarding when you want to be spontaneous and quick. In fact, with these simple compositions, I am forcing myself to work within a limited time frame. That way, I'm forced to not over work or get bogged down in the details. The pastel painting pictured here was done in under a half hour. Now that's what I'm talking about! :)

My Soon-to-be Empty Nest...
My two boys are both spreading their wings, taking that leap from the nest... both at the same time! I'm alternating between excitement and melancholy. A chapter ends, and a new one begins. Older son needed a nudge (more like a kick), younger son is headed for Parris Island. And all these years I could have sworn it would be the other way around.
