On Painting

The dark hours before dawn and catching the first light of the day is a favorite time for me. Waking up several hours before needing to head off to work has been a routine for the past 15-plus years, since the boys were little. I no longer plan what I'm going to do with that time nor commit to using it for anything specific. I've come to a point in life where I can allow myself to simply enjoy the time.

This morning I dusted off the oil pastels. I mostly felt like I was making a mess, but by the time I needed to stop and get ready for work, it started coming together. I wasn't sure I liked it until I came home later. I do think I like it.
